Who we are

Paul Borisoff

Paul Borisoff, BBA, CIM, FCSI®, AIFP™, RIAC

Senior Investment Advisor, Senior Portfolio Manager

As the leader of the Borisoff Wealth Management team, Paul brings over 30 years of investment management experience and a deep understanding of capital markets to every client relationship. Specializing in working with individuals and families with $1 million+ in investable assets, Paul helps clients prepare for and thrive in retirement through comprehensive, custom-tailored financial and estate plans. His disciplined approach focuses on thoughtful portfolio construction, risk management, and tax efficiency to help clients achieve their goals with confidence and minimal stress.

Paul has managed discretionary portfolios since 2008, including the Diversified Income Portfolio, launched just before the financial crisis and now with a 17+ year track record. His team builds portfolios using both traditional securities and carefully selected third-party managers, blending active and passive strategies. Both fundamental and technical analysis guide investment selection, with a focus on identifying opportunities that are often overlooked by larger institutions and most retail advisors.

A key differentiator of Paul’s investment philosophy is his ability to uncover and capitalize on unique areas of the public markets. This includes opportunities in Canadian convertible debentures, one-off preferred share issues, special situations, and discounted closed-end funds with NAV redemption features. These niche investments can offer attractive risk/reward potential but require rigorous due diligence, including deep research, financial analysis, and conversations with company management.

Paul began his career in 1992 at Richardson Greenshields after earning a BBA in Finance from Simon Fraser University. He has worked with some of Canada’s largest financial institutions, earned recognition as a member of his firm’s Chairman’s Club, and holds several industry designations: Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), Accredited Investment Fiduciary Professional™, Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®), and Responsible Investment Advisor Certification (RIAC).

Paul lives in downtown Vancouver with his wife Jo, their parrot Pajo, and their Chihuahua, Tequila. He also has two grown daughters. Outside the office, he enjoys mountain biking and skiing in Whistler, where his family has a second home.
